Ghostless Gigs

Freelance work without the silence

Ghostless Gigs is an early-stage project about one specific failure in freelance and contract work: the other side stops answering. Nothing is built yet, and this page exists so that the idea is written down somewhere it can be argued with.

The failure this is about

Ghosting in freelance work is not rudeness, it is an unpriced transfer of risk. The freelancer does the scoping call, writes the proposal, sometimes builds the trial task — and then absorbs the entire cost of a decision that was never communicated.

It happens at every stage, and each stage costs more than the one before it: an unanswered enquiry costs minutes, an unanswered proposal costs hours, an unanswered invoice costs the work.

The working idea

Make the silence visible *before* the unpaid hours are spent, rather than recorded after. Whether the useful form of that is a reputation signal, a private checklist, or something else entirely is exactly what is unsettled.

Status: concept

This is honest rather than modest. There is no product, no waiting list, no database, and no company behind this beyond a one-person consultancy that owns the domain and thinks the problem is real.
